How can I keep from singing?

I used to think I was a mezzosoprano (with a poorly developed range) as I prefer singing the second lowest female part, not the very lowest, but since I keep transposing stuff down by one octave when I sing along with stuff sung by mezzosopranos, I guess I must be a contralto after all (I just found myself a middle C and checked; I can go about one octave above and almost one octave below).

In other news, it looks like we finally got a decent bit of snow on top of the ice sheets that have plagued us for the past weeks. With luck, it'll stick and I'll be able to walk the 20 meters to the closest gravelled road without fearing for life and limb :)
