So my dad looks at TV footage of the tsunami and people reporting how water rose 3 feet where they were in Thailand, complains that that's nothing, that Thailand was partially sheltered by Indonesia and therefore shouldn't have as much fuss as Sri Lanka, and reminisces about the tsunami he saw in China 4 decades ago.
My friends who were in Phuket 3 weeks ago are severely upset, thanking their lucky stars they missed it and sad because everything they saw is washed away and the people they'd had around them working hard to get some baht out of them have lost what little they had and/or been killed.
And I'm wondering why not a word of news is said about the Andaman Islands, which were the scene of all the aftershocks.
