By the way, is anyone else completely unsurprised that Bush et al. launched a large attack on Fallujah immediately after the election?

No.pe. Not surprised at all. Saddened and disgusted, but not surprised.

It doesn't surprise me given that Ramadan is nearly over. I figured win or lose the attack would happen, I just thought they'd wait until Ramadan was completely over.

Peace.

Not at all. There were lots of reports that the siege of Fallujah would occur only after the election. I just didn't think it would be straight after.

I'm about as surprised by this as I am that Iraqi soldiers trained by the U.S. are now refusing en masse to attack their countrymen (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/wn_report/story/251033p-214975c.html).

(What's the official difference between an Iraqi insurgent and an Iraqi defending his homeland from invading foreign military, I wonder?)
