It's pouring rain outside. Autumn is here, it's just that it's not the part I am yearning for yet. Instead, it's mushroom season. I see little brown and yellow hats everywhere, and one particular stump I pass on my way to and from school has turned into a lump of probably over a hundred mushrooms.
They're not all brown and yellow. My waning blueberry patch is now guarded by about half a dozen of the classic berserker mushroom, the fly agaric. They're kind of pretty, but knowing how poisonous it is makes me feel slightly uneasy whenever I see them.
Meanwhile, I could happily stroll past something like a death cap and not give it a second thought.
It's a good thing I don't pick wild mushrooms.
