I'm watching the news. They're showing clips from earlier today, when the situation with the hostages in North-Ossetia came to a head after a female suicide bomber blew herself up and others started firing at the hostages, forcing a counteraction. Near naked and bloody children are running out of the buildings in small clusters and being put on gurneys while gunfire can be heard around them. Someone just carried out a little girl who was conscious, but had a huge bandage around her head that was seeping blood on her neck.

Why do people do shit like this?

Fuck, man, I just started reading about this this morning and I saw your post. I dunno anymore than you do, but ... how the hell do you explain that to those poor kids?

Because people are fucking assholes. And not just militants who take over schools--although they go above and beyond the call in being an asshole--but people who perpetuate the whole fighting over a bit of rock because "it's our rock! the government (or some semi-mystical god type) told me so!"

Some days are worse than others.
