Olympics

I just watched the opening ceremony. The TV commentators do their bit, and in between, the TV studio has been asking a Norwegian movie guy what he thought about it. He thought the statue and history bit was cold and didn't like it because the embarrassing thing the Norwegians did 8 years ago with freaky looking kids was so warm and fuzzy, and he thought the flame lighting was boring.

It's nice to know a supposed culture personality is so incapable of appreciating a ceremony that is elegant, and one that isn't so jam packed with disjointed cute entertainment bits that you can't remember what happened after it's done.

It'll be on here in a few hours. I'll probably tivo it so I don't have to watch all of the commercials and awful sob stories about the athletes' disabled pets. I always find the opening ceremonies interesting in a trippy kind of way. There's really no other forum for that particular brand of lowbrow Cirque du Soleil weirdness.

It WAS especially weird this time. I liked the guy walking around on the spinning cube...
