We decided to go to the store and buy provisions for our Seattle trip in this dust storm. Grit in mouth, grit in nostrils, grit in eyes, on glasses, on skin. And not a speck of humidity in it all. Winds are over 30mph in gusts, it's very hazy, and temperatures have dropped 20F from earlier this afternoon.
We checked the news when we got back and apparently this isn't linked to the fire they reported earlier; this is a huge dust/windstorm that's hitting here and north Idaho, and has broken trees and powerlines in places. Weather Underground seems to claim these dust storms are being caused by strong windgusts ahead of a bunch of thunderstorms moving in from Oregon.

In other news, new neighbors downstairs have just shown they, too, own an extensive music playing system.
