Today has been very hazy and windy. Sweetie wondered if it could be caused by a distant fire, and while I can't find anything conclusive off the bat, the weather report does have 'haze and smoke' in the forecast for tonight. Weird. He tells me it can get like this but worse when there are large forest fires around - it was especially the wind coming from the same direction as the thickest (and brownest) haze that made him think this was the cause.

We walked to the post office, mailed a package to a friend of mine whose husband is ill, bought books (Bhagavadgita and The Name of the Rose), browsed a second book store that had a record of 16 different WIC magazines, then went to the grocery store and bought real Denali ice cream. We tried the safeway clone a couple days ago and it was so disappointing that I was craving the real stuff.

Now, clam chowder with veggies.

Smoke & Haze

Missoula has a lot of smoke and haze right now due to fires in Washington, Oregon, and Alaska. The last time Missoula had this much smoke was last year, but the fires were eight miles from town then.

Peace.

It isn't smoke here; it doesn't smell like fire at all, just very dry and dusty.

I just saw two fire engines pass by, headed north.
