I went christmas food shopping with my dad after he picked me up from the dentist (only one cavity this year, yay). We got fruit and nuts and christmasy meats and rice porridge-to-be-creamed and red sauce powder and other nummy things. We stopped on the way out to get carnations for my grandparents' grave - my grandfather died 10 years ago in spring, and my grandmother died 20 years ago today.
There is a winter storm going on right now. The church is on the west side of the island, and the wind was starting to pick up enough that we really felt it as we arranged flowers. It was nice to be in wind I had to work a bit to stand in - if that kind of wind ever happens in the East where I go to school, it ends up in national newspapers :)
After that we drove to check that his boat was moored properly, and all the time he was reminiscing about people and places along the road.
In short, being picked up from the dentist turned into a quite nice trip with my dad :)
Ooh, howling wind and rain outside, seems the storm just decided to pick up. Perfect christmas weather :) (Really, I mean that, especially for snuggling up inside. Christmas weather for me is dark, short days, not so much the snow that usually never is here anyway)
