The outside corner wall of my old apartment would get attacked by a woodpecker every so often (it was next to a lightly wooded area, and the walls were red, which I understand attract the birds). It was very annoying. When I moved to this apartment, I thought "at least I shouldn't get that particular problem", seeing as this one is surrounded by buildings and has grey walls.
I just heard one of the little bastards chipping merrily away on my wall. I stuck my head out and saw some damage. It's nowhere near as bad as the wall of my old place, but I don't want them here *at all*

Poor de Lima

Whether or not de Lima was losing his lead already, and no matter what motivated that jackass to attack the leader of the marathon, said jackass should be gutted and hung up to dry.

Oh joy. We get the closing ceremony interrupted by a dorkface (Nils Gaup, who made a movie that got nominated for an oscar almost 2 decades ago and therefore is a connoiseur of all that is Good) who just.won't.stop blithering about how the Greek ceremonies are sooo uptight and the ones in Norway 10 years ago were sooo wonderful. Why can't he shut the f up and let me enjoy the ceremony in peace? (It hasn't even started yet and he's already pissed me off by the knowledge that he'll be applying his pretentious, selfcongratulatory ass to whatever the Greeks will do to close these Olympics)

More about the marathon

I am glad they gave him the special recognition medal after what he went through.
