The year started with a proper rainstorm here. Hopefully the weather will be a bit better tomorrow when we fly north again.
Due to the weather, I didn't do my customary walking-outside-and-watching-other-people's-fireworks thing. My younger brother and his girlfriend were here, and he put on United 93 after dinner (very powerful movie, but definitely not festive!). After that, we had a power outage that blew the main fuse, played some Trivial Pursuit, watched cheery things on TV and went out on the balcony at 5 minutes to midnight to watch the fireworks of others in a 10 mile radius (there are benefits to living on a hill).
