Current official snow level: 80 centimeters. It varies between two and three feet most places.

The bus stop had been plowed this morning (incidentally, it seems I've mispronounced 'plow' my entire life) but they hadn't managed to hit it accurately. Not that I blame them, as it's impossible to see the sidewalks. Anyway, there is a ditch to one side of the bus stop. This ditch was completely filled with snow, and it was impossible to tell it apart from the actual bus stop area until I tried walking across it. My right leg sank through over a foot of fresh snow, then through the ice crust of the old snow, leaving my leg buried up to my knee, my foot trapped by the ice crust, and the bus one minute from my stop. I had to wiggle out of my shoe in order to get my foot out, dig out my shoe, and then sit on the snow and knock snow out of my shoe and try to get it back on. I managed to mostly do that and get on the bus, but my sock felt lumpy; 5 minutes later I took my shoe off again and found a lump of snow/ice half as large as my thumb that was stuck in the shoe.

I've spent most of the day with a chill in my bones, and with my pashmina scarf wrapped around my shoulders and arms on top of my usual clothing.

Ack!

OK, as much as I've always loved snow, I'll admit that I do hate it when it tries to eat my footwear.

Yikes! And I thught we got it bad here when we occassionally have 1-2 ft of snow from Jan-Feb in the rurual areas. I'll feel terribly guilty if I start whining in my journal about icy pavements now :)

Icy pavements are the debil, so whine about them all you like!

(They're expecting a temporary thaw this weekend. I dread next week.)

How do you say it? Rhymes with how - or snow?

I've been rhyming it with snow :/ And now I have a nasty cold.
