Cabin baggage ban hits musicians

I kind of want to smack the people whose counterargument is 'you'd be much sadder if you died omg!' as if bringing an inspected cello or laptop on a plane would cause the plane to explode.

I wonder what travel will be like when we go to visit hubby's family in the US next year.

Last time I flew anywhere here in the US it wasn't that bad... of course, that was a couple years ago at least. And you'd be flying into the sountry, whereas I was already in it, so it might be much more stringent. I hear all sorts of horror stories about being on the "suspected terrorist" list and stuff, but I've never seen it happen.

Banning cabin baggage just seems utterly ridiculous, though...

Let's just say you do not want to know how many times I have been 'specially selected by the airline' to have my luggage gone through :)

Airline Personnel: Hello, you're wearing red so today you're going to have your luggage searched. Won't that be fun?
Cel: But I--
A.P.: Shut up. Oh noes, socks! YOU'RE A TERRORIST OMG.
Cel: Erm...
A.P.: BOOK 'EM, DANO!
Cel: You're all morons, aren't you?

Kinda like that? Heh.

Or like: Look, non american person on flight, let's go through her carry-on luggage! Or even: look, non american who looks strange because she got a bad attack of flying anxiety and had to take pills to get on the plane and has been traveling for 16 hours already, let's go through ALL her luggage so she'll miss her flight and have to wait an extra 3 hours (making a total of 25 traveling hours) before she can meet her future husband in person for the first time!

Yep.

One. That incident was in 2003 :)

Ahhhhhhhhhh my bad. I somehow mistook those two scenarios as being applied to the future trip you referred to in your original post. I'll be over here learning to read.

You know, I think I'm beyond sputtering now. Now I'm just alternating between being completely pissed off, wondering how likely it is that this is partially or completely made up in order to once again manipulate the people politically, and being really, really depressed.
