I am looking for an English word that describes the growth of a plant.

Do you mean a precise term like "germination" or some poetic description?

Both?

Hmmm. Still thinking. Is it a particular sort of growth?

The thing plants do where they unfurl their leaves, their stems get longer, they grow new shoots, etc etc etc. Hubby says there's no one word for it (heck, I can't even really imagine one in Norwegian). Germination is kind of the stage before the word I'd want.

I can't really think of one either. Here (http://hcs.osu.edu/hcs300/devel1.htm) is a page on plant development that just talks about "growth" a lot.
