There was a blurb in the national newspaper the other day about how 'yes, spring should be just around the corner, but...' and I thought to myself, 'Spring? But the snow's just started to get down to business.' I took it as a sign that I've started to acclimatize to this place (which has two winters: dark winter in november-january followed by snow winter in february-april/may, as opposed to where I am from where yes, spring and flowers usually starts in march)

One nice thing about living here at this time of year, even with my lack of fondness for snow, is that when I leave work in the afternoon, every day is just tangibly brighter than the day before. Over the past weeks, it's gone from night to dark twilight to brighter twilight to sunset colours. I'll lose the effect around the time daylight savings start, because by the the sun will still be up when I leave work, and I'll be missing the process until autumn, when the reverse pattern happens (there's less snow then, though).

I am definitely feeling the longer days as well. I like the sun still being out when I leave work. Now with daylight savings in effect, it is definitely out when I leave.
Moreso, though, I have been enjoying it getting lighter earlier in the morning. The winter stinks for me as I get up way before my boyfriend does, and I wind up getting dressed in the dark a lot of mornings! With some light coming from outside, I can actually see what I am putting on, and thus spare myself the fumbling around and putting things on backwards/inside-out! With daylight savings it is now dark again in the morning...at least for a while....
I guess I should just lay out my clothes the night before or something!

Right now, the sun peeks in the window when I get up at 7, but it's bright enough to trigger my 'daylight' reflexes for about an hour and a half before that. And by next weekend, daylight will start so early that DST won't have a meaningful impact on that end of the day - but it will make me leave work in full daylight, even on days when I work late :)
For natural reasons, I work on suppressing my 'daylight' reflexes in the morning in spring. And I have very thick curtains.
