While it may seem heartless, I can understand why the husband wouldn't let her family be around for the moment. I could see much ugliness happening if he'd let them be there. Including resuscitation attempts.
That's how I feel about it, too. I was really afraid that they'd let her go without sustenance for a week, and then resume the feeding the way they did in 2003 (2004?) which I thought was just horrible.
