Norway has an olympic weightlifter in the heaviest weight class. He finished 10th in Atlanta 8 years ago. He was supposed to compete in Sydney, but tested positive for steroids - it was later discovered that one of his diet supplement powders had been contaminated, and he was cleared. Because of this, he was really eager to get a placement in these olympics.
Today, he was trying to lift 205 kg when his legs buckled. He dropped the weights and fell to the floor with a torn thigh ligament. He'll lift weights again in a year if he's lucky, never if he's unlucky, and his weightlifting career might be over.
I just feel for him right now.

Me: you'd think people would find better ways to start their lives together than going bankrupt
Me: and it's not just the ring, it's the whole Wedding thing
Him: right
Him: it's like people have set up road blocks at the stopping points of life
Him: demanding you pay the toll
Him: when you can just go around if you want to
Him: if more people did it, the alternative trail wouldn't be so bumpy, but because so many people did it, they're shamed at their own stupidity for paying the toll, and lash out at the people who "cheated"
