We got back from Seattle last night. It was a good trip; we visited Pike square market, the science center and the new library, found lots of quirky little shops, ate gelato and ethiopian food and fish and saw blue angels.
On the way home, the traffic on I-90 to Ellensburg was rerouted, causing a hefty delay. A cop on a bike told us we had to drive around and said something about a motorcycle accident up ahead, but at a stop in a later town we heard there had been at least 4 vehicles involved, and casualties :( I kept wondering if one of the two bikers that had passed the bus in the torrential rain an hour before we were rerouted was involved.
At Moses Lake, we were greeted by the largest, tallest, darkest and most electrically active single cloud I have ever seen. It loomed over us like a wall and flashed every few seconds. We had to drive through this, and met rain so thick we couldn't see the other lane, even more lightning, and hail at the deepest point. It was aweinspiring and a little terrifying for someone like me, who is afraid of excessive thunderstorms :)
We met this storm's little brother later at home as it passed over the house just as we were unpacking and settling in for the night. I've never seen summer hail before and now I have seen it twice in one day.
Today's obsession: will my ring ever feel comfortable/unpresent, and should I shrink it? (It does beat obsessing about my impending flight home)
