Argh
The board where I've posted all my Baldur's Gate fanfiction disintegrated in early June, due to it running on a jury rigged, antiquated set of board software; a server update of some sort wrecked the whole thing.
It was restored recently, ported to a different type of board software.
The new software scorns my computer.
I just spent an hour solely creating 2 new posts, editing an old one (all of which I did by pasting already-done text files), commenting on the edit (as I couldn't edit the topic heading to show what I'd done) and then posting that posting anything at all took 5-20 minutes of sitting and waiting for the board software and my computer to negotiate an unstable truce. Going back into the text I'd entered to change a word or a format tag took at least a minute (and many cusswords) extra every time. I was sitting here with a book, and got through 20 pages while this was going on - I kept rereading the same pages by accident, otherwise it would have been more.
Why the hell does even the simplest looking interface have to have underpinnings of laggy scripted stupidity these days?!
