Well, I've fucked up.
I've procrastinated for a month with regards to hooking the phone up to the broadband thingy. Last week, the broadband company tried porting my phone number and failed due to it not being hooked up. Today I finally take the time to rewire the stuff and find no dialtone, and then I find no dialtone on the old line either. So now I emailed them to ask if they'll get it sorted out or if I have to do more stuff, and I won't know till Monday at the earliest, and I can't call the customer service number as waiting in the queue would suck every scrap of money out of my prepaid cellphone.
